Operating Systems

Digg’n Deeper generally prefers rolling release distributions from Debian and it’s directly compatible derivatives as well as Arch Linux and it’s directly compatible derivatives.

Known as the universal operating system, Debian is likely the most stable operating system on the planet. It is beautiful, powerful, reliable. I expect it will be around as long as we need operating systems. We build most of our desktops on Debian.

Linux Mint is a highly acclaimed Debian derivative which aims to be very easy and complete.

I am unaware of a more lightweight, flexible and bleeding edge operating system. I like to build our specialty systems and servers with Arch.

DistroWatch is a good place to explore a plethora of other distributions available.
An excellent reference for those willing to spend the effort is Learn Linux the Hard Way
